What We Believe
As someone once wisely noted, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." Below you'll find an abbreviated statement of our doctrinal beliefs.
We believe the Bible in its original manuscripts to be the literal, inerrant, inspired word of God. It is the final word concerning Christian life, faith, and practice.
We believe that there is only one God, a spiritual being expressed in three Persons
: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is eternal, self-sufficient, all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere-present, perfect, infinite, true, gracious, just, patient, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy and lovingkindness.
We believe that God the Father created the universe and everything in it through His Son Jesus Christ, rules over the universe and is sovereign in all things, overseeing the affairs of humanity through His perfect and permissive will in order to eventually bring all things together in Jesus Christ, to the praise of His glory.
We believe that God the Son, Jesus Christ came to earth as a man and became fully human while retaining His full deity, was born of the virgin Mary who conceived Him through the overshadowing power of the Holy Spirit, died on the cross to pay for the sins of those who believe in Him and therefore purchased their eternal salvation, rose literally from the dead in human form three days after His death, ascended to heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for His people, and awaiting the time of His literal return to earth to rule and reign in righteousness and truth.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, points people to God, reveals truth, comforts, counsels, and guides believers, and empowers them to live victorious lives pleasing to God.
We believe that man was created by God in the image and likeness of God to have fellowship with God and be the special object of His love, but fell into sin through disobedience and as a result of his sin brought the consequences of sin upon himself, his descendants, and all of creation. Man in his natural state is hostile toward God, and spiritually dead. However, we believe that through the gracious provision of God, anyone who places their faith in Jesus Christ and His death on their behalf to pay for the consequences of their sin will be forgiven, given a new life, and enjoy a living, loving, vital, and eternal friendship with God as He originally intended from the beginning (would you like more information about how you can come to know God?).
We believe that the church universal consists of all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, past, present, and future, and that local churches consist of those in a particular place who have joined together to worship God and love Him under the leadership of Jesus and qualified leaders, love one another, belong to each other, and help each other grow in faith by teaching the Bible and practicing accountability, promoting Christ's cause in the world, and celebrating baptism and communion.
We believe in the baptism by total immersion of those who profess faith in Jesus Christ, and regular celebration of communion as an act of worship and to remember and reflect on what Jesus has done for us through His death on the cross on our behalf.
We believe in the literal, visible return of Jesus Christ to earth to rule as a righteous and perfect King. We believe that He will judge both the living and the dead. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus will receive everlasting life as a gift for their faith and receive rewards commensurate with their work for Christ. Those who have rejected Jesus will be consigned to an eternal hell and be separated forever from Christ and all that is good.
We believe in fellowshipping and cooperating with those of like faith and convictions to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ.
